TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Information and Communications Technology-Kalinga (DICT-Kalinga) initiated a Graphic Design Training Program for women in the province as part of its advocacy to champion and empower them this National Women’s Month.
To introduce or further develop their skills, DICT highlights the basic principles in graphic design, featuring the use of Adobe Photoshop, a widely used software for editing, creating, or manipulating images.
Lawrence Aquino, Cyber Security Focal of DICT-Kalinga emphasized the natural creativity of women and that they often have an eye for visually pleasing designs. “So, we need to equip them with graphic design skills using a professional tool that they can also utilize for any income-generating opportunities,” he said.
During the training, DICT-Kalinga personnel Jayden Banawa led a session on cybersecurity, providing advice on how to secure data online.
The training took place from March 6 to 7, 2025, at the Tech4Ed Center, which is located on the third floor of Tabuk City Hall. The venue served as the city’s counterpart through the City Information and Communications Technology Office, supporting the DICT effort.
DICT will also offer a Website Development Training using WordPress via Zoom from March 18 to 20. This program is available to all interested persons, even those with no prior coding knowledge. To register, go to their official Facebook page: DICT – Provincial Office Kalinga. By Rio Bassong
