DAGUPAN CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in Ilocos Region is set to hold its fourth-leg of the DICT Regional Roadshow 2024 in Lingayen town on June 3.
Elvis Cayabyab, provincial head of DICT Pangasinan, said the roadshow, with the theme “Bayang Digital Ang Bagong Pilipinas” will be held at the Training Center II in Lingayen, Pangasinan from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“The DICT Regional Roadshow 2024 seeks to encourage citizens and the government to imbibe the principles of Bagong Pilipinas and unite towards a nation that has fully embraced digitalization across governance, public service, industries, commerce, and lifestyle,” Cayabyab said.
He added the roadshow is expected to be participated by DICT officials, local chief executives of the province, regional line agencies, educational institutions, and the public.
Cayabyab said through the event, the department aims to build a secure and prosperous digital future, demonstrating its dedication to digital inclusion in the region.
The roadshow kicked off on May 24 at the Plaza Del Norte Hotel and Convention Center in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte followed by the second leg held at Plaza Maestro in Vigan City in Ilocos Sur on May 28.
Cayabyab said the third leg of the roadshow will be held at Saint Louis College Gymnasium in San Fernando City, La Union before it will come to Pangasinan for the fourth and last leg.
He mentioned that digital marketing and an introduction to artificial intelligence are among the topics participants can expect to engage with during the event.
Further, the roadshow will showcase the flagship programs, services, and accomplishments of DICT through seminars, workshops, and breakout sessions.
A motorcade will be conducted at 7:00 a.m. in the Capitol compound to commence the activity.
“The event will also mark the kick-off ceremony of the “National Information and Communications Technology (ICT)” month under the Proclamation No. 1521, s. 2008,” he added.
DICT spearheads the annual National ICT Month (NICTM), highlighting the crucial role of ICT in driving national development through digital transformation.
This year’s celebration emphasizes the shared responsibility for change in President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance. (PIA Pangasinan)
