LUNA, Apayao – During the celebration of the Provincial Hero’s Day on December 5, 2024, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Apayao awarded the Taddo Awards to outstanding barangay local government units (BLGUs) in the province.
According to the DILG, the “Taddo Awards are a recognition program that honors outstanding barangays for excellence in governance… meant to strengthen grassroots leadership and recognize the importance of barangay performance in the progress of municipalities and provinces.”
Held at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex, Luna Apayao, said awarding recognized 13 barangays for their exceptional performance in public service.
The barangays which received the award included the national winners and provincial winners.
National winners are Barangay Sabangan of Calanasan; Barangay Buluan of Conner; Barangays Bacsay, Dagupan, Lappa, Poblacion, San Sebastian, and Tumog of Luna; Barangay San Antonio of Pudtol; Barangays Imelda, Marcela, and Panay of Santa Marcela.
The Barangay Ili of Conner was also awarded as a Provincial Winner.
The “TADDO’ for BETTER Apayao Awards” was conceptualized during the tenure of Hon. Elias K. Bulut as Mayor of Calanasan. In honor of his legacy, the initiative was later adopted by the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., aligning with the Gobyernong ELIAS (Excellent Leadership with Integrity and Accountability in Service) anchored on the primary agenda of “Raising the Bar of Good Governance.”
The 12 awardees received a total of PhP100,000 each, while Barangay Ili was granted a cash incentive of PhP50,000.00, with a plaque of recognition. By Michelle Acantilado
