LUNA, Apayao – With the groundbreaking of its PHP7-million building, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here will soon have its own provincial office.
The two-storey edifice will be constructed on a 2,000-square meter area with a floor area of 405-square meters located at San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao.
DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo Iringan expressed his gratitude to the municipal government of Luna through Mayor Josephine Bangsil for donating the lot for the Provincial Office of DILG Apayao, which paved the way for the department to realize its goal of having an office building to better serve its clients.
“The lot donation only demonstrated the DILG Apayao’s tireless efforts, quality services, and assistance provided to all of the local government units here in the province,” he said.
Usec. Iringan also stated that the building’s construction will continue to inspire the men and women of the Cordillera office of the DILG, particularly in Apayao, to give their all in carrying out their tasks and responsibilities.
“The public will be encouraged to participate in good governance and to sit with us to resolve their issues and concerns,” he said.
Meanwhile, RD San Jose assured that the Department will continue to provide technical assistance to local government units, local chief executives, and other functionaries in decision-making as well as in developing and updating government policies that can lead to improved public sector performance and service delivery.
DILG Apayao OIC-Provincial Director Daisy Payang also thanked all those involved in the event’s preparations, as well as the partner agencies and/or units that contributed to the event’s success.
The ground breaking ceremony was also attended by the former Provincial Director of DILG-Apayao, Marvin A. Basquez, Luna Municipal Mayor Josephine M. Bangsil, League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) President for Apayao Chapter and Pudtol Municipal Mayor Hector Reuel D. Pascua; Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District II, Engr. Ronalyn Ubiña, Parish Priest of St. Anthony Parish Church Rev. Froilan B. Pangda, DILG City and Provincial Directors and other DILG Cordillera personnel.
