TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Kalinga, led by Provincial Director Anthony Manolo Ballug, officially turned over the solar street lights installed along the provincial road in Dilag to the city government on November 15, 2024.
The turnover ceremony was attended by Mayor Darwin Estrañero and officials from Barangay Dilag, as well as various city government representatives.
The solar street light project, valued at PhP2.3 million, was funded through the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund for 2023 under the DILG.
Construction of the project began on March 29, 2024, and was completed by July 22, 2024, significantly contributing to the region’s infrastructure and sustainability efforts.
Mayor Estrañero emphasized the importance of the solar lights in providing a safer and more accessible environment for residents passing along the road.
He also highlighted the energy savings, noting that the city will not incur electricity costs for the solar-powered lights.
Mayor Estrañero’s administration has been actively pursuing infrastructure projects, including the installation of solar street lights in various barangays in Tabuk City.
One of his key goals is to ensure that most barangays benefit from sustainable lighting projects, further improving public safety and development. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
