SAGADA, Mountain Province – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and officials and personnel of the provincial government continued with the distribution of food relief packs in Sagada on August 24, 2023.
The beneficiaries are barangays Tetep-an Sur (120 food supplies), Tetep-an Norte (90 food supplies), Kilong (102 food supplies), Antadao (101 food supplies), Tanulong (94 food supplies).
According to the DSWD, the five barangays are among the typhoon-affected constituents of Sagada which is the main qualification of receiving the assistance.
In a short program, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., Vice-Governor Francis O. Tauli, Board Members Kapon Gomgom-o, and Johnson Bantog II, Executive Assistant Aqueles Agnapan, were one in pointing out in the similarity mission, purposes, and objectives between the Barangay Muna Program of the Governor and the programs of the DSWD.
In addition, Social Welfare Officer Celine Day-ong of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office relayed a message from the DSWD emphasizing on the good partnership, collaboration, and coordination between the DSWD and the provincial government that made the said offices’ relationship stronger. This, she said, contributes to the attainment of the goals and objectives of the DSWD in relation to their programs.
Meanwhile, the provincial officials also turned over some boxes of medicines (Lianhua Qingwen Capsules) to barangay captains Arnold Pilay, Domingo Amogawen, Melvin Bagsingit and other barangay officials. The Lianhua Qingwen is said to be a traditional Chinese Medicine especially formulated to be used for the treatment of influenza.
The governor said that Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong gave the medicines upon the request of the provincial officials. By MP-PIO via Gia K. Mangagley
