TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Personnel from the Regulations, Licensing, and Enforcement Division (RLED) of the Department of Health-Cordillera (DOH-CAR) recently conducted an inspection of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) IV birthing facility in barangay Agbannawag.
The visit aimed to ensure that the facility meets the necessary health standards before it becomes fully operational.
The establishment of RHU IV is expected to relieve congestion in hospitals that have been facing an influx of patients where residents from adjacent barangays will no longer need to go to barangays Bulanao or Dagupan for maternal healthcare services.
This project will not only benefit expectant moms, but will also enhance access to quality healthcare in distant locations as health workers who have received Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) training will staff the birthing center.
A doctor, nurses, and midwives from the city government will provide critical maternal and newborn care.
Local health officials have emphasized the importance of ensuring that all birthing facilities comply with health regulations to guarantee safe and effective healthcare delivery.
The DOH-CAR’s inspection marks a crucial step in verifying that RHU IV is equipped with the necessary medical tools, personnel, and resources to serve the community efficiently.
With the RHU IV birthing facility about to be fully operational, the city government and health officials are committed to strengthening local healthcare services and improving mother and child health outcomes throughout the city. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
