LUNA, Apayao – In a significant boost for the communities in Apayao, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Apayao, led by Provincial Head Jane Y. Adalan, has awarded a total of PhP5.5 million for six livelihood projects, targeting post-harvest facilities that aim to enhance agricultural production, increase income, and provide jobs for local residents.
At the same event, DOLE also released PhP5.6 million in wages through the TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers) program, benefiting 1,044 families from the towns of Luna, Pudtol, Sta. Marcela, and Flora.
The awarding ceremony was attended by prominent local leaders, including Hon. Josephine M. Bangsil of Luna, Hon. Hector Reuel D. Pascua of Pudtol, Hon. Evelyn B. Martinez of Sta. Marcela, and Hon. Rodolfo B. Juan of Flora, who each expressed their commitment to supporting their constituents. They encouraged vigilance and preparedness in light of the typhoons affecting the area.
Adalan briefed beneficiaries on other available DOLE programs and urged them to use their TUPAD wages responsibly and effectively implement their livelihood projects. She also thanked local leaders, including Cong. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, Gov. Elias C. Bulut Jr., and the municipal mayors, for their essential role in bringing DOLE’s programs to the barangay level and improving community services.
