LUNA, Apayao – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Apayao distributed the wages of the Tulong Panghanap Buhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) of the province last June 13-16, 2023.
Congressman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang and Supervising Labor Employment Officer (SLEO) Jane Y. Adalan led the program during the opening ceremony of the Balangkoy Festival in Santa Marcela.
This flagship program of the DOLE is made possible through the collaboration of the Office of the Congressman, the provincial government, and in partnership with the local government units. It aims to provide emergency employment for displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers including farmers, to alleviate their living amidst difficult circumstances brought by crises.
According to Employment Officer Marcelo Saleo-an, Jr., the TUPAD, has already benefited numerous Yapayaos with 443 total recipients in the province amounting to P2,658,000. 133 workers are from Luna, 110 each from Flora and Pudtol, while 90 workers are from Santa Marcela.
“We will continue to do this program and we encourage the qualified individuals to apply as workers,” Saleo-an said.
On the other hand, the TUPAD beneficiaries are grateful for the people behind the program. By Jomela C. Dela Torre
