TABUK CITY, Kalinga — In a continued effort to lift up communities and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Kalinga conducted a series of successful activities under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program on November 4 and 5, 2024.
Empowering Beneficiaries at Tabuk City Gymnasium
The journey began on November 4 at the Tabuk City Gymnasium, where a contract signing and orientation session set the stage for the beneficiaries’ involvement in TUPAD. The session aimed to familiarize participants with the program’s goals and ensure a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the projects they would undertake.
Over 300 beneficiaries attended the event, each signing their contract of service. These agreements marked the beginning of their short-term yet impactful employment opportunities, which are designed to provide much-needed financial assistance while simultaneously supporting community-based projects, such as environmental clean-ups and infrastructure maintenance.
“Through TUPAD, we don’t just provide temporary employment; we empower individuals to regain confidence and resilience,” said a DOLE representative during the event.
A Heartwarming Welcome in Pantikian, Balbalan
The celebration continued on November 5 in Pantikian, Balbalan, where DOLE staff were greeted with an inspiring jingle composed and performed by TUPAD beneficiaries. This unique gesture of gratitude underscored the program’s positive impact on the community.
The pay-out event served as a culmination of weeks of effort, as beneficiaries received their wages for completed work under the program. The funds provided immediate financial relief while enabling participants to contribute to their households and local economy.
One beneficiary expressed their appreciation, saying, “TUPAD has given us not just income but also hope and dignity. This program is a blessing for families like ours.”
Reaching the Farthest Communities
Despite the challenges posed by rough terrains and a looming typhoon, DOLE-Kalinga made sure to reach even the most remote areas, such as Tinglayan. These efforts highlight the agency’s commitment to inclusivity and its determination to ensure that no community is left behind.
Livelihood Assistance for Sustainable Growth
Apart from TUPAD, DOLE-Kalinga also awarded livelihood assistance to deserving beneficiaries, providing resources to start or expand small businesses. This initiative empowers families to achieve financial independence and strengthens the local economy by fostering entrepreneurship.
“The livelihood assistance program is more than just financial support; it is an investment in the long-term growth and resilience of our communities,” a DOLE-Kalinga official emphasized.
A Shared Vision for Progress
Through these initiatives, DOLE-Kalinga reaffirms its commitment to improving lives and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. By supporting individuals and families, the agency contributes to the broader goal of building resilient and self-sustaining communities across Kalinga.
As the program continues to make strides, DOLE-Kalinga invites everyone to join hands in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for the province.
