SABANGAN, Mountain Province – Former Mayor Jupiter Dominguez is the lone congressional candidate in the Cordillera that is aligned with the Uniteam of presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. and leading vice-presidential bet and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
When he filed his certificate of candidacy for the province’s congressional post, Dominguez, who was a 3-term mayor of this municipality, was issued a certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) under the LAKAS-CMD which is the official political party of the leading vice-presidential candidate.
The LAKAS-CMD party headed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was able to establish an alliance with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of the presidential frontrunner and each of the political parties adopted Marcos as their official candidates for president and Duterte-Carpio as the vice-presidential candidate of the said political parties.
For the past several months, numerous politicians from the different parts of the region are trying to declare that they are aligned and affiliated with the two frontrunners for president and vice president despite the fact that they belong to other political parties that have no alliance with the 2 leading political parties in the country.
The former mayor will bank on his Just and Upright Public Service as vehicle in trying to be the province’s Representative to the House of Representatives during the upcoming May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections.
Earlier, Dominguez explained that the identification of priority development projects that will be funded from the available budget of concerned government agencies and the local governments should be based on the annual investment plans that were gathered from the barangays, municipalities and the province to ensure that the need of the people on the ground will be given the needed attention by the national and local governments.
He pointed out that the list of priority development projects in the annual investment plans had been a product of extensive consultations with the people on the ground that is why concerned government agencies and local governments should consider the same as the available shopping list of the projects that should be prioritized in the provision and distribution of the limited funds so that there will be a balance in the development that will be introduced in the urban and rural areas in the country.
According to him, there should be greater development that should be done in rural areas to prevent people from migrating to the urban centers and contribute to the pressing problems of the said areas so that there will be equitable distribution of the population that will help in reducing the impact of urban decay which is common among well development barangays, cities and municipalities.
Dominguez is also an advocate of people’s participation in the formulation of programs, projects and activities that will eventually translate to countryside development that will pave the way for the co-existence between the inhabitants and the ongoing efforts to preserve and protect the environment for the benefit of the present and future generations of Filipinos.
