BAGUIO CITY – Baguio’s Representative-elect Mauricio G. Domogan vowed to closely work with the concerned government agencies to improve the grant of scholarships to deserving students and enhance the support to sports development that will serve as a stepping stone of the youth for a brighter future.

Domogan, who was once a working student during his college days just for him to achieve a higher level of education, pointed out the need to increase the number of beneficiaries of the government’s scholarship program so that deserving students can pursue their desired courses in the tertiary or technical-vocational levels and be part of the country’s productive labor force in the future.

He emphasized that education remains the best inheritance that parents and guardians could give to their children or wards because it cannot be outrightly taken away from them and that it could be used to help in improving the lives of their families.

“The youth must continue striving to excel in their chosen fields of profession and we will be elated if they are able to exceed our achievements because that is the essence of our life cycle. We will be surely proud of the youth if they are able to exceed what we have reached because they will be the face of our future,” Domogan stressed.

He stipulated he will work out the increase in the number of recipients of the different scholarship programs and educational assistance initiatives of his office in close coordination with concerned government agencies so that more deserving students can pursue their dreams of becoming successful professionals in their respective fields of profession.

On the other hand, Domogan underscored the importance of utmost support that should be extended to the government’s grassroots sports program so that potential athletes can be discovered and eventually developed into talents that will bring honor and pride not only to the city but the country as well once they are able to excel in local, regional, national and international sports competitions.

According to him, there are many professionals who were able to complete their studies because of their active involvement in sports that is why concerned government agencies and local governments must provide the necessary support to the sustained implementation of sports development programs that will result to the discovery and development of youth athletes who will be the country’s future medal haulers in different sports disciplines and in various types of competitions.

Domogan underscored that parents and guardians do not want their children to experience the difficulties they had experienced in going to school by having to walk barefoot several kilometers daily just to attend school in the nearest public elementary or high school that is why the government is trying to put up more schools in the countryside, hire more teachers and enhance connectivity so that the youth can access quality education right in their midst.

He said that he will be making future announcements related to the proposed initiatives once he assumes his post as the city’s Representative to the House and has coordinated with concerned government agencies related to the matters on scholarship and sports development. HENT
