BAGUIO CITY – Congressional candidate Mauricio G. Domogan supports the move of various groups to retain unexpended funds of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth).
Instead of realigning the PhP89-million worth of funds to the National Treasury, Domogan said the state health insurer should increase its case rates so that more people will benefit from the contributions they have been paying.
“Dakdakkelen da kuma ti benefits, tapno maprotektaran ti salun-at ti tao”, Domogan said in a statement.
Three petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) opposing realignment of PhilHealth funds to the National Treasury.
Oppositors argue, more people should be given a chance to avail of PhilHealth benefits.
The SC has recently concluded its oral arguments regarding the petition.
Unexpended funds from government agencies, including from government-owned and controlled corporations, if returned to the National Treasury, will be reappropriated for other projects.
Domogan said PhilHealth funds should be exclusive for healthcare needs.
He said if elected in Congress, he will pass a law increasing case rates and diagnostic services.
