Dona Nicasia, Dona Aurora, and YMCA bag Badminton Titles

BAGUIO CITY – Dona Nicasia Elementary School, Dona Aurora High School and the YMCA Badminton Club bag the over-all championships in the YMCA sponsored Open Invitational Tournament held last March 9-10, 2019 at the YMCA gymnasium, attended by some 200 pairs of badminton enthusiasts.

The two-day tournament is an annual sports program of the YMCA that had categories for elementary, high school, and corporate level of competition.

After the hostilities were settled, the following came up with victories: ELEMENTARY DIVISION: LEVEL A – Boy’s Doubles: Champion – Gyan Maieve Ocana, Mark Christian Pinlac (Dona Nicasia Elem. School), 1st runner up – Marcial Jr. Pinlac, Xian Bangaoil (DNES). LEVEL B: Champion – Kurby Tadios, Junel Ngaosi (Mankayan Elem. School), 1st Runner Up- Christian Aguilar, Lamyud Abul ( Ifugao Elem. School.

ELEMENTARY GIRLS DOUBLES: LEVEL A: Champion – Janine Claveria, Jewel Cabillon (DNES). 1st Runner Up – Airah Mangay-ayam, Franchesca De Guzman (DNES). Level B: Champion – Jasmine Claveria, Janina Cabillon (DNES). 1st Runner Up – Jochebed Caneda, Czarina Capuyan (HOPE). LEVEL B- Karl Aguilar, Vince Ngipol (Ifugao HS), 1st Runner Up – Kevin Satur, Joash Calawa (HOPE). GIRLS DOUBLES: LEVEL A- Champion – Esper Atiwag, Jade Claveria (DANHS), 1st Runner Up – Crystal Cortez, Jemmaica Miniano (DANHS). LEVEL B: Champion – Angelica Cayat,Hannah Baronya (UBSHS), 1st Runner Up – Leila Dagupen, Marjorie Macadaeg. MIXED DOUBLES: LEVEL A: Champion – Jade Claveria, Jasper Claveria (DANHS). 1st Runner Up – Esper Atiwag, JM Pacheco (DANHS). LEVEL B: Champion – Louis Balidoy, Hannah Barona (SLU/UB). 1st Runner Up – Angelica Cayat, Vaughn Castro (UBSHS).

CORPORATE MENS DOUBLES: LEVEL A – Champion – Jeff Sumentac, Jay Claveria (YMCA), 1st Runner Up – Erick Basto, Obhey Catahan (YMCA). LEVEL B: Champion – John Manansala, Carlos Angara (YMCA), 1st Runner Up – Eugene Seno, Aldrin Seno (Cool Thunders). LEVEL C: Champion – Jener Tumitit, Gian Oria (YMCA), 1st Runner Up – Lendon Sison, Gwayne Leganzo, (Baguio). LEVEL C: Champion – Amabel Ong, Jonah Go (YMCA), 1st Runner Up – Arleen Valdez, Michelle Ibag (YMCA). LEVEL D: Champion – Roselle Lazaro, Bernaine Cliffa Trinidad (YMCA), 1st Runner Up – Jasmine Erece, Jenalyn Salay (YMCA). Meanwhile, another YMCA sports activity, the YMCA Members Basketball Tournament, will be opening on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the YMCA gymnasium, here.
