TANUDAN, Kalinga – The Department of Public Works and Highways – Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (DPWH-LKDEO) recently completed the construction of the vital Tanudan Bridge along the Tabuk-Banaue Road via Tanudan, Kalinga – Barlig, Mountain Province road to link some of the barangays in the two municipalities to ensure the convenient travel of motorists to and from the said communities.
DPWH-LKDEO officer-in-charge Engr. Ruby Uyam stated that the Tanudan Bridge which has a length of approximately 90 lineal meters was provided a budget of around P96 million for its completion.
She added that the works included the construction of the concrete bridge and the improvement and widening of the approaches for the safety of the motorists aside from the fact that the completion of the bridge will definitely contribute in efforts to spur the economic activities of people and provide easier access for them to be able to transport their agricultural produce to the nearest markets in the said municipalities.
The project was started by the contractor in 2018 and was completed this year to ensure that the same will be used by the motorists wanting to travel along the aforesaid roadline going to their desired destinations in Kalinga, Ifugao and Mountain Province.
Uyam expressed her gratitude to the project implementer and the concerned local governments for their unwavering and uncompromising support to the DPWH-LKDEO that paved the way for the immediate completion of the vital bridge project which is now being used by people to be able to conveniently travel inside and outside the province.
DPWH-LKDEO has been tasked to facilitate the implementation of vital infrastructure projects within its area of jurisdiction such as the towns of Pinukpuk, Rizal and Tanudan and Tabuk City.
Uyam explained that part of the works that had been done by the contractor was the construction of the concrete reinforced deck girder that will ensure that the structure will be able to withstand the tension that it will be encountering with the continuous flow of motor vehicles on the same as there will be an expected significant increase in vehicles traversing the roadline due to the presence of the good bridge structure in the area.
She assured concerned stakeholders that the DPWH-LKDEO will remain steadfast in ensuring that all the infrastructure projects being implemented by the agency will conform with project standards and specifications to ensure that the said projects will last their prescribed economic life and to lessen the inconvenience of people when using the said projects that are either ongoing or completed.
Uyam stipulated that the agency is still awaiting the release of the funds that had been placed by the agency under for later release so that it will be able to facilitate the immediate completion of the projects which had been put on hold because of the delayed fund release although the same are already in the pipeline awaiting the availability of the earmarked budget before the contractors will proceed with the implementation stage.
