BALBALAN, Kalinga – A 39-year driver was injured while his wife was unhurt after their mini-dump truck fell on an 8-mter ravine at barangay Pantikian, here, Thursday morning.
Police authorities said that the mini-dump truck loaded with dry goods, clothing, glassware and plastic items had a difficulty in maneuvering a high angle elevation of the road that prompted the driver to ask his wife to move out of the vehicle for safety.
The driver tried his best to allow the truck to go up the slope but upon reaching the peak of the uphill climb, the vehicle allegedly stopped and rolled backward that caused him to lose control until it fell into the shallow ravine.
The driver was able to immediately move out of the rolling vehicle and sought the assistance of residents living nearby.
The matter was immediately reported to the local police force and municipal disaster risk reduction and management council where immediate response was made including community volunteers who provided the victim with initial assistance.
The injured driver was brought to the barangay Pantikian health center for first aid treatment of the injuries he sustained as a result of the accident. By Dexter A. See
