TINOC, Ifugao – A truck driver died after his parked truck was pushed down into a 300meter deep ravine in a slide-prone portion of the road at sitio Gaday, Eheb, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Marcos Inaldo Arron, legal age, married and a native of Baretbet, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim parked his truck on the side of the road while awaiting the debris to be cleared from the road by a backhoe which was commissioned to clear the landslide.
However, big boulders of rocks started to again fall from the mountain side and pushed the truck and the backhoe to the ravine wherein the truck fell on a 300-meter ravine while the backhoe fell on a 20-meter ravine.
The backhoe operator was able to seek help from his colleagues to rescue the truck driver but his lifeless body was later recovered and brought to the Tinoc District hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
