SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Two separate anti-drug sting operations by anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Regional Office 1 (PDEA-RO1) on April 13, 2016 led to the arrests of two “shabu” traffickers in La Union and Ilocos Sur.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Undersecretary ARTURO G. CACDAC, Jr., the arrested suspect was identified as 37 year old Michael Ugales Suyat a resident of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Michael Suyat is an employee of the city government of Vigan, working as an administrative aide. Law enforcers confiscated from him 3 sachets of shabu, buy bust money and the cellular phone used in the transaction.
The other buy bust in barangay Catbangen, San Fernando City, La Union, caught 29 year old Joel Papa y Rivera. PDEA Agents pretended to be buyers and contacted Joel Papa thru text messages wherein he personally delivered a sachet of the illegal substance at the designated area.
Upon arrest two more sachets of shabu were found when he was frisked adding more charges. Further investigation also revealed that Joel was previously arrested for violating the Drugs Act in 2015 but was eventually released as the case was dismissed.
PDEA – RO1 regional director Adrian G. Alvarino confirmed that both suspects are facing charges of section 5 “Selling of Illegal Drugs” and “Possession of Illegal Drugs” under Section 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
