LUNA, Apayao – The provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the Abel Manufacturing through its Shared Service Facility Program yesterday at Capagaypayan, Luna Apayao Evacuation Center whose main beneficiary is the Luna Weavers Association.
Fifteen members of the organization joined the launching and the DTI allotted ₱855, 525.00 to the association through its Shared Service Facility (SSF) Program.
The SSF Program, according to DTI-Apayao Provincial Director Wena M. Buston, aims to increase productivity and bring in more money for organizations who are in the same line of business.
The equipment and facility are also available to be used and shall be shared by those who need them.
Buston, in her talk to the beneficiary organization, reminded them to remain steadfast in their work, saying “Itultuloy yu daytuy nga ganwat yu tapnu agtultuloy met ti programs tayo, Sana makita mi dakayo nga rumang-ay. We are here to back you up and support you all the way.”
Jane Y. Adalan, Provincial Director of the Department of Labor and Employment, meantime praised the recipients for taking advantage of the initiative, recalling that they handed the group loom frames in 2013. She also offered her support and encouraged them to recruit young weavers to be trained.
“Agbirok kayo ti medyo ub-ubbing nga weavers nga e-train yu, tapnu addan tu kasukat yu nu intun saan yu kayan. E-push yu nga agbalin nga training institution daytoy nga association,” said Adalan.
Science Research Specialist Racquel A. Luban of the Department of Science and Technology also expressed their agency’s unwavering support for this endeavor. “If you need training in the future, we can work together to increase production,” she stated.
Carmelita Del Mundo, the Executive Focal Person of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), urged the beneficiaries to register as a training center organization. If they do, TESDA will facilitate the process.
Corazon Ammasi, President of Luna Weavers Association, said she and her members are grateful for the assistance adding that “Maragsakan kami la unay ti tulong u kanyami. Namnamaek kuma nga nagaget tayo nga ag-abel ken sapay kuma ta Itultuloy tayo ti suporta tayo ken dagitoy nga programa”.
The said program is one of the DTI initiatives to fill production gaps and provide potential recipients with free equipment, and to provide solutions to those financially unstable individuals.
After two years, DTI will evaluate their productions and check whether the pieces of equipment are used for their intended purpose. By Loremia Pareja
