SANTA MARCELA, Apayao – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Apayao, in partnership with the Municipal Price Coordinating Council (MPCC) of the municipal government, held a combined team monitoring activity on September 5, 2024 at the San Carlos Public Market.
The MPPC plays a vital role in promoting fair and reasonable pricing practices, protecting consumers’ interests, and fostering economic development in municipalities.
The team assessed the weighing scales used by 29 business owners, including permanent stall holders who sell meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits.
All firms freely took part in the inspection. While the majority of weighing scales passed the inspection, seven were discovered to be non-compliant and were corrected accordingly. The remaining complying scales were sealed to ensure their accuracy.
This collaborative monitoring action is intended to protect consumers by ensuring that they receive the correct weight for their purchases. The initiative also promotes the use of biodegradable plastics, which helps to ensure environmental sustainability. By Michelle Acantilado
