LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Amidst continuous bad weather, Eastern La Trinidad National High School (ELTNHS), Beckel headed by the school principal Mr. Alfonso C. Doriano proceeded its school improvement activities being the representative of the municipality to the Provincial Clean and Green Program CY 2016 High School Category.
Stakeholders worked hand in hand to improve their school’s physical assets and environment, like the school grounds and campus greening.
During the September 29th assessment, faculty member Harlene Bacona emphasized their toilet ratio facilities which were 1:24 for male and 1:33 for females was far better than the ideal ratio of 1:50 based on the DepEd Educational Facilities Handbook of 2007. They also linked the importance of school physical environment improvement as their outdoor classroom with their class subjects.
Teachers tapped several agencies for the financial assistance which Doriano acknowledged during the presentation of the assessment.
Those who gave assistance and support were as follows: staff and members of Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center (CARTC), Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City represented by Public Safety Field Training Program CL 2016-01 ECHO and CHARLIE Company who gave manpower assistance for two solid work days led by SPO2 Glinn L. Caweng and SPO2 Antonio G. Liwan and with the approval of the Regional Training Director PSUPTPergentino N. Malabed Jr through PCINSP Ruel D.Tagel; Cordillera Career Development College headed by the president Mr. James M. Malaya for the manpower, mural painting artists and potted plants; King’s College of the Philippines headed by Rev. Ricardo Umayam for the paint and painting materials; Benguet State University headed by Dr. Feliciano Calorafor the strawberry runners; office of Mayor K. Romeo Municipality of La Trinidad for the making of the Material Recovery Facility; office of Barangay Beckel led by Hon. Allan Y. Maliones for the manpower and landscaping ideas and the individuals of the barangay like Mr. Bernie Manuel, RemegioCarpio, Rudy Burcio for the materials used; to the restaurants in La Trinidad like Jacks, Calajo and Marosa who donated plastic balloons and cans; and to all students, employees, teachers and parents of the SY 2016-17 for the patience, knowledge and extra effort in bringing materials, tools and out of pocket finances.”
The Provincial Clean and Green Seach Program is a yearly assessment of the performance of the municipalities. The thirteen municipalities participate with the entries from the Elementary and Secondary category of assessment scheduled all in September 2016 endorsed by the mayor of La Trinidad,
This was the first time the said school participated in a clean and green competition since its establishment in 2007. At present ELTNHS has seven (7) school buildings, seventeen (17) permanent teachers and a Municipal School Board, three (3) PTA paid administrative staff and three hundred seventy-one (371) enrolled student.
The invitation to represent the municipality came from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Office of Hon. Crescencio C. Pacalso through the Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Hon. Ruben E. Paoad.
