KABUGAO, Apayao – The provincial government and its seven municipalities Conner, Calanasan, Flora, Kabugao, Luna, Pudtol, and Santa Marcela have been recognized for their outstanding performance in maintaining peace and order during the CY 2023 Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit.
Evaluating functionality and development indicators, the assessment showed major progress in the province’s security efforts. 78.3% of local government units (LGUs) achieved a high-performance rating, an increase from 69.88% in 2022.
Outlined in DILG Memorandum Circular 2024-025 (February 28, 2024), said audit measures the effectiveness of peace and order councils (POCs) based on their organization, meetings, policies, plans, budget, supervision, and innovations, as well as their impact on crime prevention, public safety, gender sensitivity, and citizen participation. To qualify as high-performing, an LGU’s POC must score between 85 and 100.
With these results, Apayao continues to make steady progress in ensuring security at the local level. The Department of the Interior and Local Government commended the local POCs for their efforts and their role in maintaining order and stability in the province. By Krizza Joy Castillo
