La Trinidad Benguet – Campus journalist Beatrice B. Alumno grabbed 1st place in Secondary Science and Technology Writing during the CAR Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) and is set to represent the Eastern La Trinidad National High School (ELTNHS) to the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC).
Alumno, a Grade 11 of the school, wrote about the topic “Transporting goods from market to home: plastic bags or paper bags?” She was trained by mentor Beverly L. Dianso.
The RSPC was aimed at improving the journalistic skills of students in CAR and promoting responsible and free journalism and hosted by the Benguet Division at Benguet National High School-Main Campus, Wangal, La Trinidad last December 8-11, 2016.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones was the keynote speaker for the event. She was welcomed during a ceremony on December 10 with a traditional dance of Benguet and was also serenaded by the La Trinidad Teachers’ Choir.
“When you grow up, do not forget what you learned in campus journalism; to always tell the truth, to always be balanced in reporting, to be accurate, and to acknowledge your mistake if you made a wrong report,” Briones reminds the budding journalists during her keynote speech.
On the other hand, OIC-Regional Director Beatriz Gonzales Torno gave recognition to officials of the DepEd Benguet division other divisions Cordillera Regional Office for their efforts in making DepEd-CAR 1st in rank in budget utilization.
