LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – “Hindi lamang po dapat ipakita sa salita kundi sa gawa ang pagiging Gobernador.”
This was stated by Governor Amado I. Espino III in his message before the 13,171 barangay health workers (BHWs) during the 3rd Barangay Health Workers Provincial Congress held on October 12 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC).
Commending the sacrifices of each health worker considering the minimal honorarium they received, the Governor urged each of them to continue working hand-in-hand with the provincial government to be able to tend to the needs of the poor and sick Pangasinenses in their community who are the priorities of the present administration.
Inasmuch as the provincial government wants to accomplish all its programs and projects, the provincial chief executive noted that the support of different sectors is of utmost importance.
“Kaya nga po hinila ko na pati ang aking maybahay para magsilbi sa ating mga kababayan,” he said referring to First Lady Karina P. Espino, who spearheads the Kalusugan Karavan, a flagship health program of his administration.
Stating that his administration’s goal is to serve every sick and poor Pangasinense he further vowed to reach all barangays throughout the province through direct service delivered thru Kalusugan Karavan.
“Sama-sama nating alagaan ang ating mga kababayan,” he said as he thanked all BHWs for embracing his administration’s effort to serve the less-privilege sector of society.
Meanwhile, Alegria Almajano, BHW provincial federation president, vowed to support the Espino leadership noting that the provincial government has served as inspiration for the federation to work harder. Thus, she said, the Pangasinan federation of BHWs has been dubbed, as “number one in terms of performance” throughout the entire region based on scorecards by the health department.
During the opening program, the governor was joined by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., Board Member Noel Bince, BM Generoso Tulagan, Jr., BM Liberato Z. Villegas, and BM Rosary Gracia Perez-Tababa.
Highlights of the whole-day event include the oathtaking of the newly-elected officers of the provincial federation, search for Miss/Mrs. BHW 2018, and raffle draws.
