TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 45-year old former government trooper died after his motorcycle collided head on with an elf truck along a sharp curve of the Tabuk-Tuguegarao road, particularly at sitio Wanti, barangay Bulanao here Friday night.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Francisco Calizar Gapasen Jr., 45 years old, married, ex-army and a resident of Dagupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga while the still unidentified driver of the elf truck fled after the said collision incident.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his motorcycle and was negotiating a sharp curve along the national road when it collided head on with an elf truck that came from the opposite direction.
The victim’s motorcycle was dragged around 8 meters away from the crime scene but the driver of the truck immediately sped off towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple injuries on his head and body while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by police operatives for him to face the appropriate charges to be filed against them.
