LUNA, Apayao – Project Butsy and the Provincial Eye Care Program recently served over 243 residents in Kabugao, Apayao on November 4, 2024, with eye care and visual acuity topping the list of most availed services.
Based on the data, most residents asked for eye care and visual acuity screening. Of the 243, 52 will be referred to Far North General Hospital and Training Center for further assessment and management by ophthalmologists.
The provision of medical and health services was made possible through the partnership of the provincial government, Apayao Provincial Hospital (APH), the municipal government of Kabugao, and Conner District Hospital Dental Health Services.
The group also provided medical consultations to 201 individuals and dental services to 17. Other residents availed of the laboratory services and free medicines which were given by the rural health unit and APH personnel through the aid of the provincial government.
The initiative is aligned with the vision of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.’s healthcare program, which aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to all yApayaos, particularly those in rural areas where medical services are limited.
The partnership within the Provincial Eye Care Program focused on addressing the prevalence of visual impairment and blindness in the province. Thus, Project Butsy continues to travel to all municipalities to reach every individual needing the care. By Joyce Arian Soria
