BAGUIO CITY – A 34-year old man was arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents after reportedly offering unauthorized online services in violation of the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act and RA 10175 or the Cyber Crime Prevention Act.
Police authorities said that the suspect who was only identified s alias Berto who was collared by operatives of the Mountain Province Provincial Cyber response team during an entrapment operation in the city.
Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cyber Crime Group, commended the aforesaid police unit for the conduct of the successful operation that lead to the arrest of the fake dentist.
The police official urged the people to be cautious when seeking professional services on the internet and that they should only trust licensed practitioners.
He claimed that if they encounter suspicious or unauthorized dental providers, they must immediately report the matter to the nearest police unit for appropriate action to prevent further harm that may be caused to them. By Dexter A. See
