BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) hosted the 2nd Quarter DOLE Family Welfare Program (FWP) Meeting at Chalet Baguio Hotel, marking a significant step forward in employer-employee relations. The meeting aimed to orient and re-orient participants on the DOLE Family Welfare Program (DOLE Department Order No. 56-03), strengthen FWP monitoring and reporting mechanisms, highlight exemplary corporate practices for replication, and review the Family Welfare Federation–Cordillera (FWF-CAR) constitution and by-laws.
The event began with a message from Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra who set a positive tone with his opening address, underscoring the vital role of the FWP initiative in fostering strong employer-employee partnerships.
A highlight of the morning was a presentation by the Department of Health-CAR representatives on the Healthy Workplace Program. This session provided valuable updates on interventions and measures to monitor employees’ overall physiological well-being, reflecting a strong commitment to health in the workplace.
Labor and Employment Officer Aries A. Sauro then offered insights into the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program, detailing the procedures for accessing financial assistance for financially distressed establishments, providing much-needed support for businesses facing economic challenges.
The afternoon session featured an in-depth exploration of the ten dimensions of the FWP by Labor and Employment Officer Daryll Ponard which included practical examples of activities within each category, fostering a rich exchange of insights and experiences among attendees about their respective company practices related to the FWP. The collaborative discussions addressed common workplace issues such as absenteeism, underperformance, and gender equality/inclusivity.
Participants received FWP monitoring forms and guidance on their use, along with sample needs assessment forms designed to address employees’ health and welfare requirements. This practical support ensures that companies can effectively implement and track their welfare initiatives.
Additionally, FWF-CAR members were updated on upcoming meetings focusing on labor and health updates, with discussions about the potential election of new officers, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen organizational leadership and engagement.
