PUDTOL, Apayao – A 68-year old farmer died after he was allegedly carried by the strong water current of a river while he and his companion was crossing the flooded portion of the road at San Mariano, here, Friday.
Police authorities ident5ified the fatality as Rodrigo Salarzon Garcia, 68, widow and a resident of barangay Cabatacan, Pudtol, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his companion decided to go to check on their carabao at the height of the strong rains when they were forced to cross a flooded portion of the road just to reach a bridge.
However, his companions was able to successfully swim towards the bridge but the victim was allegedly carried away by the strong water current.
The lifeless body of the victim was later recovered by responding personnel of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office.
