PEÑARRUBIA, Abra November 07 – A 42-year old farmer died after he was shot to death by a security guard while singing in a videoke during a birthday celebration in their residence at Surcoc, Dumayco, here, Saturday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Demetrio Domingo Guinaban Jr, 42, married, farmer, resident of Sitio Surcoc, Barangay Dumayco, Peñarrubia, Abra while the suspect was named as Hereberto Altuna Tacanay a.k.a. Abbet, 36, private security/Barangay Tanod of said barangay and presently residing at Sitio Panpaniki, Barangay Dumayco, Peñarubia, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and the suspect, together with their companions were having a drinking session during a birthday celebration and with no apparent reasons, the suspect allegedly shot the victim once on his nape while he was singing in a viedeoke in their residence.
The victim allegedly died on the spot after sustaining a lone gunshot wound on his nape while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by responding police operatives after fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene a spent shell of a caliber .45 pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
