PIDIGAN, Abra – A 64-year old farmer died after he was repeatedly shot to death by still unidentified assailants while tending his carabao in a creek at Banay Surong Monggoc, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Orlando Callejo Palino, 64, married, farmer and a resident of Banay Surong, Monggoc, Pidigan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim went to a creek in their place to tend his carabaos when two still unidentified assailants suddenly fired at him twice hitting him on his head that caused his instantaneous death.
He was rushed by concerned citizens to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead on arrival due to fatal wounds on the different parts of his body as a result of the shooting incident.
The suspects then fled towards an undisclosed direction after the said incident while responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene a spent shell of a suspected calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
