BUGUIAS, Benguet – A farmer died after he was shot to death by two still unidentified gun-wielding suspects while inside a videoke bar at Upper Abatan here shortly before midnight Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Narciso Pallay, married, farmer, native of Tucocan, Tinoc, Ifugao and a resident of Sitio Tin-apan, Bangao, Buguias, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim, together with three companions, were having a drinking session when one of the suspects suddenly entered the establishment and tried to shoot him but his firearm allegedly jammed.
After a few moments, another suspect, who was wearing a black bonnet, entered the establishment and repeatedly fired at the victim until he was sprawled bloodied on the floor.
The suspects reportedly fled towards the direction of Baguio City while concerned citizens and bystanders immediately rushed the victim to the Lutheran District Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.
Responding police operatives and elements of the scene of the crime operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene three spent shells and two deformed slugs of a calibre .45 pistol which was reportedly used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
