FLORA, Apayao – A 41-year old farmer was wounded after he was repeatedly hacked by a farmer during a heated altercation in sitio Tabbug, Anninipan, here, Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Virgilio B. Domrique Jr, 41, married, farmer, while he named the suspect as Jerwin C. Talbo, 34, farmer, and both residents of Anninipan, flora, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspects, together with a number of companions, had a drinking spree in the residence of the victim’s brother when the former decided to go home but he was followed by the latter.
Upon reaching a parked jeepney owned by the victim, the suspect allegedly destroyed the horn of the vehicle that caused the victim to confront the suspect which escalated to a heated altercation.
The suspect then decided to go home and when he came back, he was already armed with a bolo and hacked the victim several times.
The victim, who sustained multiple lacerated wounds on the different parts of his body, was rushed to the flora District Hospital for emergency treatment before he was transferred to the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center while the suspect was subsequently collared by responding police operatives and is now awaiting the filing of appropriate charges against him.
