LA TRINIDAD Benguet – A 39-year old farmer was injured after he was allegedly hacked by a fellow farmer during a drinking session at Gayasi, Wangal, here, Saturday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Nicanor Ibasco Mara, 39, married, farmer and residing at Upper Gayasi, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet while the suspect was named as Elmo Changpas Bugtong, 41, married, farmer and residing in Lower Gayasi, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect, together with some companions, had a drinking session inside their shanty when their companions decided to go to sleep and left them having a conversation.
The suspect decided to go out of their shanty but the victim followed him for still unknown reasons.
However, the suspect then stabbed the victim on his belly for still unknown reasons that awoke their companions who pacified the commotion.
The victim was rushed to the Benguet General Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation after fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
