BANGUED, Abra – A 63-year old peasant leader died after she was allegedly shot to death by still unidentified gunmen early Wednesday in the capital town.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Nona Bigornia Castillo, 63, married, a farmer leader and a resident of barangay Banacao, Bangued, Abra.
Probers stated that the incident transpired along the road at sitio Calumbitin, barangay San Antonio where the victim was already transported by the concerned citizens to the nearby hospital.
Marife Castillo informed probers that she was driving a tricycle when she was flagged down by the victim and requested the former to bring her to barangay Banacao.
While on the way to their destination, a still unidentified gunman who came from behind allegedly shot toe victim twice and immediately fled towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim sustained two gunshot wound on the different parts of her body and was rushed by responding police personnel to the nearby hospital but eventually expired while undergoing medical treatment in the said facility.
Investigation is still being done on the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the killing of the farmer leader in the said barangay. By HENT
