KABAYAN, Benguet – A 49-year old farmer and truck driver died after he was rammed over by his own truck that suffered mechanical trouble at sitio Talukip, Eddet, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Michael Atolba, 49, married, farmer and a resident of Sitio Talukip, Eddet, Kabayan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the driver, together with his helper, were on their way to deliver their vegetable produce to the La Trinidad vegetable trading post when their truck suddenly encountered mechanical trouble that forced them to stop in a certain area along the road.
The driver allegedly shifted the gear stick to neutral before alighting from the vehicle and went under it to check that cause of the trouble.
However, the truck suddenly started moving forward and rammed over the victim that caused his instantaneous death.
His body was immediately brought home by his relatives to their house for him to be given the necessary wake and burial.
