TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – A 24-year old farmer was hurt after he was shot by a 26-year old farmer for still unknown reasons while walking along a foot path at sitio Masua, barangay Basao here Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, provincial director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Denis Alinung Dalog, 24, single, farmer, and a resident of Basao, Tinglayan, Kalinga while he named the suspect as Junjun Suyam Saggot, 26, single, farmer and a resident of the same place.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was carrying a sack of rice en route to their residence and while descending along a foot path, he was shot by the suspect with the use of a still inknown firearm on his back with the bullet entering his upper waist and exited in his abdomen.
The victim was accompanied by Basao punong barangay Jimmy Manggad to the Tingalayan rural health unit for medical treatment before he was transferred to the Kalinga Provincial Police Office for further treatment.
Responding police operatives sought the assistance of the Sadanga and Bontoc Municipal Police Stations to locate the whereabouts of the suspect who fled towards Mountain Province after the shooting incident.
