TINGLAYAN, Kalinga September 22 – A 28-year old farmer was injured after he was accidentally shot by a fellow farmer while they were hunting for wild animals in the hinterlands of Basao, here, Wednesday morning.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Amboy Dugay Owar, 28, married, farmer while he named the suspect as Dao-wig Casingoy, 35, married, farmer and both residents of Basao, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim, together with two companions, including the suspect, decided to go to the mountains to hunt for wild animals and they decided to part ways and went to opposite directions.
However, the suspect noticed that something was moving in a bushy portion and believed that it was a wild animal, thus, he started firing towards the said direction of the moving bushes.
At this juncture, the victim shouted for help as he was hit by a bullet that came from the home-made firearm of the suspect.
The victim was rushed to the Tinglayan District Hospital for medical treatment but he was transferred to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for further treatment while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by the responding police operatives.
