RIZAL, Kalinga – A 33-year old farmer died after he was repeatedly shot to death by two still unidentified motorcycle riding in tandem assailants at San Quintin here Sunday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Darwin Gaddao Batario aka “Ambong”, 33, single, farmer and a resident of Macutay, Rizal, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his tricycle when two still unidentified motorcycle riding in tandem armed men stopped hear him and shot him twice in the different parts of his body before fleeing towards Liwan East here.
Responding police operatives and concerned motorists immediately rushed the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to two fatal gunshot wounds on his body.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene two empty shells of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
Probers are still conducing an investigation on the incident to ascertain the motive of the victim’s murder.
