STA. MARCELA, Apayao – – A 41-year old farmer died after he was shot dead by still unidentified suspects while he was asleep under a mango tree in their neighborhood at Purok Mahogany, barangay Consuelo, here, Friday dawn.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Robert Flores Agustin, 41, married, farmer and a resident of Purok Mahogany, Consuelo, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim decided to sleep under a mango tree but neighbors reportedly heard a gunshot emanating from the area where he was sleeping.
When neighbors came out of their residences the following morning, they were surprised to see the lifeless body of the victim with blood stains on his shirt.
The victim was rushed to the Sta. Marcela District Hospital for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to a lone gunshot wound on his neck from an alleged shotgun used by the still unidentified suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by police operatives for the solution of the crime.
