TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The fellowship for various farmers’ groups from different barangays in the city was successfully conducted on June 17, as part of the celebration of Tabuk’s 75th Founding Anniversary and the Matagoan Festival.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero expressed his deep appreciation for the city’s farmers, recognizing their vital role in putting food on the tables of many households.
He praised their hard work and acknowledged how farming has helped send many students to school.
The mayor also reiterated the city’s commitment to continue supporting farmers through relevant programs, ensuring Tabuk maintains its title as the “Rice Granary of the Cordilleras.”
Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o likewise commended the dedication and contributions of local farmers.
He assured that with the support of the City Council, they will continue to craft policies aimed at improving the agricultural sector and helping farmers increase their productivity.
During the event, groups and individuals who had competed and gained recognition at both regional and national levels were honored by the city officials.
Adding a touch of fun and entertainment to the evening, a “Farmers Got Talent” competition was held.
The entry from Barangay Cudal took first place, followed by Nambucayan in second, and the 4-H Club of Kalinga State University securing third place. By IJMA
