KABUGAO, Apayao – Around PhP13,810,000 million in cash aid was given through the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFF) program, helping 1,381 individuals from 22 barangays in this municipality.
The payout was made through the help of the Office of the President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. and the provincial government, in coordination with the provincial and municipal agriculture services offices (PASO and MASO).
The distribution took place at the Iyapan Heights, Poblacion, Kabugao Apayao on August 13-14,2024. Each beneficiary received a total amount of PhP10,000.
During the distribution, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in partnership with Provincial Accounting Office and Provincial Treasury Office, interviewed and assessed the qualified beneficiaries to avoid misunderstanding. They also explained that there is only one beneficiary per family to be qualified.
According to Sherwin S. Agudelo, Provincial Accounting Officer, PhP50 million assistance was allotted for the PAFF for the entire province of Apayao, which means there shall be more distribution of cash aid for farmers and fisherfolks in other municipalities.
The beneficiaries expressed thankfulness to the president as well as the provincial government for the help that were able to reach them.
Orlando Lingan Jr.,39 years old a farmer from barangay Madduang, Kabugao was grateful of the aid saying, “Datuy maawat ko nga assistance ket para ken kadagituy annak ko nga agdama agbasbasa.”
He also added, “dakkel a pangsupusop kadagiti paggastuwan iti inaldaw- aldaw.” By Michelle Acantilado
