Baguio CITY – The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera conducts the second batch of production support services distribution, providing seeds, inorganic and bio-fertilizers to hybrid rice farmers in Abra. This initiative aims to support rice production and enhance the sustainability of farming practices in the province.
This week, the distribution will reach farmers in the municipalities of Bangued, Lagangilang, La Paz, Manabo, and Tayum. These communities will benefit from the department’s commitment to ensuring that agricultural interventions are efficiently and effectively delivered.
A total of 562 rice farmers will receive their interventions via the Intervention Monitoring Cards (IMC). This digitalized system is a significant step towards modernizing the disbursement process, making it more convenient for farmers to access various forms of assistance, including the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA).
For this batch, a total amount of around PhP2.6M will be distributed. This activity, scheduled from August 6-9, 2024, is being conducted in collaboration with local government units through their Municipal Agriculture’s Office (MAO), along with support from accredited merchants in Abra.
Hon. Mila A. Valera, Mayor of Bangued, graced the distribution in Bangued and reminded the farmers to always reach out to their office through the Municipal Agriculturist’s Office for any further assistance, queries, or clarifications.
“We are always open to serve you, so do not hesitate to visit our office,” she said.
Accompanying Hon. Valera were Municipal Agriculturist Marites Balling and her staff, who assisted throughout the activity. By Leny D. Mendoza
