The Fil-Am Golf foundation will be extending the needed assistance to Baguio-based public elementary schools as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Anthony de Leon, general manager of the Baguio Country Club (BCC) and co-chairman of the Fil-Am invitational golf tournament, said that the foundation received a request from the said school last week for donation of books that is why plans of extending the said assistance was already recommended for approval to the Board of Trustees.
He said that the foundation will be making the appropriate announcement as soon as the Board of Trustees shall have approved the amount that will be donated to the said elementary school for its need of books.
The BCC official assured that the foundation will continue looking at ways on how it will be of help to institutions that need the assistance for the advancement of their programs, projects and activities geared towards promoting the welfare of the greater majority of the populace.
Earlier, the Fil-Am Golf foundation donated P5 million to the local government but the same was transferred to the Baguio Water District (BWD) for the fencing of the Busol watershed, the premier source of potable water of the city, several years ago.
The foundation is also maintaining its support to the Autism hearts foundation that promotes and develops the interest of children with autism.
Further, the promotion of junior golf is also one of the major thrusts of the Fil-Am Golf foundation to help in developing young golfers that will grow up to become talented and skilled ones that will be able to bring honor and pride not only to the city but also the entire country.
The Fil-Am Golf foundation will be officially launching the Jun golf program for interested youngsters next year to be able to entice the youth to start playing golf early for them to be developed into top caliber golfers in the future.
The foundation was established to help in the sustainable implementation of its CSR projects that will contribute in helping protect the environment, support health and education initiatives among others.
The annual Fil-Am invitational golf tournament is the longest running amateur golf tournament in the Asia Pacific region.
