BAGUIO CITY – Silicon Valley Golfers Link Club saved the best for last by shooting 80 big points for 287 total, overhaul a 14 point deficit and win by five the Senior Fil D title of the 69th Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament at the Baguio Country Club today (Dec. 5).
Despite pitting only four players on the last day, all Silicon Valley golfers improved with Jose Alvin Gueco nearly doubling his third day haul at the BCC course when he shot a 26 (from 14), Daniel Guieb with 21 from a day three team-best 19, Ellazar Barrientos chipped in 17 (from 11) and Felipe Basbas added a 16 (from 14) as they came from fifth down to nail the crown.
It was a mammoth task for the four players after shooting a miserable 58 points on day three that saw them fall to fifth from third.
Team City Vallejo improved to second from third with 282 after shooting 67, while IGC Seniors closed out with 65 for 281 and third place. Round four leader Wapinoy limped home with a 54 and out of the podium with a four day aggregate of 275.
Fil-Am Golf of Florida barely survived Club Intramuros Senior Golfers Association as Rolly Asuzano fired a 21 en route to the team’s 65 and 246 total for a one-shot victory over the latter in Senior Am D.
The Intramuros golfers made 67 for 245 which is good for second place, while Golf F Veterans took the last podium spot with a 67 and 241 total.
