BAGUIO CITY — As part of the first-ever Baguio Cosplay Day celebration, Baguio Cosplay Network formally unleashed the Cosplay Photo Exhibit at the Art Bank Athletic Bowl on October 23.
The exhibit features an array of photographs capturing cosplayers dressed up as different characters. Each photo unveiled the transformation of ordinary individuals into the realms of anime, comics, and video games characters. Additionally, the exhibit showcased handmade and 3D printed props and costumes of crafters and cosplayers.
One of the primary goals of this exhibition was to promote and create an environment where cosplay culture could be celebrated, understood, and appreciated, “Very underrated art form ang cosplay. We do a lot of things in cosplay, we sculpt, we sew, we do audio editing, music editing, we perform, ang dami pa mga ginagawa, and di alam ng mga tao ‘yan,” said Quintin Tanseco, one of the organizers of the program.
“Malaking tulong din siya kasi papano nashe-share namin ang ‘yong mga talent namin sa paggawa ng props, costumes, at siyempre, para inspiration na rin para sa mga bagong cosplayers, para matuto sila ng crafting at gumawa ng sarili nilang costumes,” shared Maya, a participant of the event.
The exhibit provided a display of community embodying characters that also served as a setting of self-expression. By Adrian Mas and Hershey Vallo
