TUBA, Benguet – A 16-year old flagman of an on-going construction works in the area was injured after he was hit by a stray bullet that emanated from the still undisclosed firearm of a motorist plying the historic Kennon road at Korba, here, recently.
Chief Inspector Jim Hilario, chief of the Tuba Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Kurt Glen Atolba De Vera, 16, OSY, a resident of Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that a blue Avanza vehicle bearing license plate number 5669 was bound for the lowlands when it allegedly bumped a signage of the on-going project in the area when an occupant suddenly fired his firearm inside with the bullet hitting the flagman.
He was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment where he was confined for further observation while the vehicle sped towards the lowlands and was the subject of alarm in all police stations in the area.
