FLORA, Apayao – Ten student-athletes from the municipality of Flora received cash incentives from the local government in recognition of their strong showing at the 2025 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet and Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte.
Among the awardees were eight gymnasts from Aero Gymnastics, one athlete from Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, and a wrestler, all of whom clinched gold medals at the CARAA Meet. Each athlete was awarded PhP5,000 for their regional victory. Those who went on to represent the province at the national level received an additional PhP3,000.
The municipal government said the incentives are part of its continuing effort to support homegrown talent and to underscore the importance of investing in the youth’s pursuit of excellence in sports.
“These young athletes have made Flora proud. Their discipline, grit, and commitment deserve not just recognition but tangible support,” the municipal government said in a statement.
Officials also acknowledged that these athletes serve as role models, encouraging others to take sports seriously and develop values that go beyond the playing field. By Michelle Acantilado
