LUNA, Apayao – The enchanting Melodic Chorale and the Zumba Dance Competition took center stage at the Aliwa Gymnasium, San Isidro Sur Luna, Apayao on October 18, 2023, as part of the 2023 Elderly Filipino Celebration.
Highlighting the skills and talents of the elders who gracefully participated in these competitions, the event was a proof of the Provincial Government of Apayao’s (PGA) dedication to the rights and welfare of disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors, particularly older persons.
Flora demonstrated unparalleled teamwork, and tenacity, earning them the title of Chorale competition champions and best in costume. Their outstanding performance secured them a certificate and cash prize of P50,000.00 and P10,000.00, respectively. Luna secured the second-place position, claiming a prize of P40,000.00, while Pudtol secured the third spot, receiving P30,000.00. Conner, Calanasan, and Santa Marcela municipalities each received a consolation award of P10,000.00.
The zumba competition saw elders not only showcasing their dance skills but also revitalizing their spirits. Santa Marcela emerged victorious, claiming the championship title and a prize of P50,000.00. Flora secured the first runner-up position, earning P40,000.00, and Pudtol clinched the second runner-up spot, receiving P30,000.00 along with an additional P10,000.00 for Best in Costume. Consolation rewards of P10,000.00 were extended to the remaining municipalities.
Presented in certificates and monetary form, the awards serve as a fitting recognition of the elders’ talents and dedication, reinforcing the event’s overarching theme of “Honoring the Invaluable Legacy of Filipino Senior Citizens.” The celebration not only showcases their efforts but also underscores the importance of upholding the well-being and rights of our elderly citizens, ensuring they lead honorable and fulfilling lives.
