LUNA, Apayao – Based on PHO data as of August 3, 2024, the municipality of Flora, which used to have relatively low dengue cases, recorded the highest number of dengue cases in the province, with 92 cases in first semester of 2024.
Of the total number, one resulted in death compared to last year’s zero dengue-related death.
This report prompted local authorities to investigate the abrupt surge of dengue cases and implement plans to mitigate the possible spread of more dengue virus infections in the municipality.
The age range of affected individuals, according to the data, is from 1 month to 75 years old with 57 percent of the cases being males who might have gotten infected while at work at the farms or where breeding areas of mosquitoes are nearby.
The municipal health officials as well as local government officials are now taking action to reduce further infection including eliminating mosquito breeding sites, wearing protective clothing, and seeking medical attention if symptoms occur.
Additionally, health officials and local authorities are collaborating closely to implement measures aimed at curbing possible more infections, asking people to exercise caution and stay alert. By Joyce Arian Soria
